Tarakh-Akil is in crisis. Queen Jetzabel has fled the city after ruling for only a few months. Now Adonyah, her younger half-sister, sits on the throne. However, those who helped overthrow her sister are unwilling to relinquish their power, and their continued support comes at a high cost.
The Exiled Queen
Jetzabel thought fear would keep her subjects in line, but she underestimated her enemies, a mistake she will not repeat. As the situation in Tarakh-Akil deteriorates, Jetzabel prepares her forces to retake her city and wreak bloody vengeance on all those who betrayed her, but she lacks warships to secure Tarakh-Akil’s harbour and block the last avenue of escape.
The Mercenary Chieftain
After a disastrous raid, Caileis needs a war, and he needs it fast. If he cannot lead his Sherden warriors in battle, he will lose his position and, quite possibly, his life. Attacking the harbour of Tarakh-Akil with only seven ships may seem like a risky venture, but under the circumstances, he is willing to try. Now all the pieces are in place. Soon, Jetzabel will be ready to confront her sister.
The Figurehead
Adonyah thought she had a clear choice: join the rebellion or become her sister’s next victim. Now she is trapped, unable to enforce her will on the Royal Council, who rule the city in her name. Accordingly, to become queen in reality as well as name, Adonyah must break free of her advisors. But as long as her sister remains free, she cannot afford to challenge them. For if Jetzabel regains control of the city, none will live to see the aftermath.
